LET'S FIND A WAY TO KEEP BUILDING OKLAHOMA’S ROADS AND BRIDGES!
If drastic cuts are made to the road program, your road repairs will be delayed, bridges will go unfixed, and cable barriers will have to wait to be installed. We have come a long way in building this great state - let's not turn back now!
OUR ROADS ARE IN BAD SHAPE.
Temporary patches will only kick the can down that bad road. There is a plan in place, The 8-Year Construction Work Plan, that addresses these pavement needs if we can just stick to it. This is a very challenging year for legislators, we hope that they will do the very best they can to guarantee we stay on course to repair our roads. We have made progress, but have a great deal of work yet to do.
THERE'S A PLAN TO FIX ROADS AND BRIDGES, SO LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN!
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has the only, long term, accountable, transparent financial plan in state government. This plan outlines how much is being spent in each county, every year, over an eight-year span. The projects in this plan are based on safety, not politics. This is a plan that is working; please let your legislator know you would like to stick to the plan… and fix our roads and bridges!
THE OKLAHOMA SENATE BELIEVES THEY ARE BETTER AT BUILDING ROADS THAN ENGINEERS.
That’s right – if the Senate gets their way – THEY will control what gets built and where! Just like the good old days!
Currently, road funding gets directly deposited into an account for building roads and bridges. But, if the Senate gets their way, they will have control of ALL that road money. Here we go again, folks. It looks like it is going to be politics over potholes.
Let’s watch the Senate and see how they will handle this one.
WATCH OUT FOR THAT HOLE!
Politicians worry about budget holes while YOU worry about potholes! That's right - while they work to fill budget holes, you are doing your best to drive around potholes. It currently costs just one nickel of every tax dollar you ALREADY pay to fix our roads and bridges. By spending a nickel, the transportation department can fund their long-term plan to fix Oklahoma’s roads and bridges. But they are looking to take that nickel and spend it on many other things. Aren’t your roads worth a nickel? Isn't there a lot more work to do on your roads and bridges?
YOUR ROADS AND BRIDGES ARE USED BY EVERYONE – EVERYDAY! Oklahomans utilize our infrastructure network more than any other function of government. For years politicians have told us that their main goal is to fully fund our “core functions” of government. Well, our roads and bridges are used by virtually every Oklahoman, every day, and yet the legislature doesn’t even want to spend 5¢ of your tax dollar on them. No wonder our roads need improvement, we don’t even spend a nickel on making them better!
Without continued investment in our roads and bridges we will never be able to guarantee safe transportation for our families.
